About REBarCampRDU

Learn all there is to know about REBarCampRDU! What is it, what you should expect of it, and what to get out of it!

What is REBarCampRDU?

REBarCampRDU is an unconference-style event created by and for residential real estate professionals. It’s built on one simple idea: agents openly sharing knowledge with other agents who want to learn, grow, and build stronger businesses.
There are no sales pitches, no paid speakers, and no rigid agenda. Instead, REBarCampRDU creates a collaborative environment where attendees learn from one another through real conversations, shared experiences, and peer-led discussions.
As BarCamp founder Rich Jacobson put it:
“People who are passionate about what they know are willing to share freely with those who are hungry to learn.”
That philosophy drives everything we do.

What Makes REBarCampRDU Different?

REBarCampRDU is not a traditional real estate conference.
      • Sessions are not pre-planned
      • Thought leaders are not paid
      • Attendees help shape the agenda on the day of the event
Sessions are interactive, discussion-based, and focused on real-world challenges and opportunities facing today’s residential real estate agents.

How Do the Sessions Work?

Sessions are group conversations, not lectures or presentations.
Each session has at least two thought leaders who facilitate the conversation, but everyone in the room is encouraged to participate, ask questions, and share ideas. Topics evolve organically based on the group’s interests and expertise.
If a session doesn’t meet your needs, you’re encouraged to follow the “Two Foot Rule” and simply get up and join another session. No hard feelings.

Isn’t That Chaotic?

A little, and that’s the point.
Some of the best ideas come from unstructured collaboration. REBarCampRDU works best for agents who are willing to engage, contribute, and stay open to new perspectives. What you get out of the day depends on what you put into it.

What Topics Are Covered?

Topics depend entirely on what attendees want to discuss. Common session themes include:
      • Real estate technology and tools
      • Marketing and branding
      • Business systems and productivity
      • Leadership and team building
      • Work/life balance
      • Industry trends

Who Leads the Sessions?

The sessions are led by facilitators called thought leaders. Thought leaders have knowledge about the session topic, and it is their job to help guide the discussion.
Some attendees facilitate sessions. Others prefer to listen, ask questions, and participate in discussions. Both approaches are welcome and valued.

Who Organizes REBarCampRDU?

REBarCampRDU is organized and run entirely by unpaid volunteers who are passionate about supporting the real estate community. Meet the members of the REBarCampRDU committee here.

How Much Does REBarCampRDU Cost?

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, tickets are $50 and include lunch and morning coffee. Parking is free at the McKimmon Center, our event venue.
